SARASWATI PUJA AT MAHADEVI BIRLA SHISHU VIHAR – A TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEY INTO THE GLORIOUS PAST
Students, Alumni, Staff & Parents of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar celebrated the arrival of Goddess Saraswati on Basant Panchami with an artistic fervor that created a new benchmark in the history of the school.
The art department conceived and transformed the premises of the school into Ajanta Caves under the mentorship of the principal, Ms. Sonali Sarkar. The idol of the goddess was also sculpted to depict the art of the 2nd Century – 6h Century BCE .
The mandap was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Mahua Mukherjee, Former Dean of Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, Fulbright Fellowship Scholar at Oaklahoma University (U.S.A.) & Indian Academic Ambassador to foreign nations, by the lighting of the lamp. Subsequently, she delivered an enriching session enumerating the glorious history of Static Art in Bengal’s Sculpture on very ancient temples of the region. The programme was also graced by the Chief Guest Lt. Colonel Anant Sinha, Administrator of Asiatic Society of India who emphasised the need to value time and explore the ancient scripts, heritage and exemplary culture of India. He was deeply moved by the interest shown by the art students in the traditional art and architecture of India.
The school ambience was transformed by all who worshipped the goddess with devotion and jubilation. Students designed rangoli with colours or flower petals and prayed to the Goddess of Learning with music. The reverence and humility of all students and staff added colour to the advent of Spring.
