The Mind Factory Event
On Saturday 15th November, more than 550 students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar vowed the audiences with a scintillating performance during the School Concert. Held at Kala Mandir, the two hour programme began with Sabiha Ehsan and Divyanshi Karnani welcoming the Chief Guest – Mr. Prashant Raj Shukla , ADM – South 24 Parganas along with Guest of Honour Mr. Prosenjit Roy , GM at ABP House ; Distinguished guests, members of the Management of Ashok Hall Group of Schools and Parents. It was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, Principal’s welcome note and the Chief Guest’s inspirational words on the importance of balancing creativity, nurturing talent and pursuing academics with discipline.
The mellifluous choir then rendered a soul stirring Vande Mataram to commemorate 150 years of its composition.
Deep emotions overwhelmed all viewers as they embarked on a journey to explore Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar through a cinematic lens.
Soon after , Roald Dahl’s iconic characters Matilda Wormwood (from Matilda ) and Charlie Bucket (of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ) brought to life – The Mind Factory.
Conceived and dIrected by Shriek of Silence, this scintillating musical transformed the stage into a magical world of lights, sounds, acting, music and dance.
The Mind Factory left each member of the audience spell bound. Its message clear – the mind factory is a beacon of hope and wonder. When Willy Wonka invited the 5 winners of golden ticket into his candy nation – Charlie and Matilda, along with Augustus Gloop, Sophie and Mike Tevee earn an opportunity to discover dreams. Wonka reinvents himself as the brave, kind, imaginative as Matilda and Charlie egg him on.
The concert not only aimed at identifying talents but also emphasised a powerful message – all children must believe in themselves.
The Mind Factory celebrated Dahl’s belief in the innate wisdom of the children.
The concert ended with the Vote of Thanks by the headmistress Ms. Karishma Surana and rendition of the national anthem.
