Initially founded as a playschool by Late Sarala Birla for her son, Shri Aditya Vikram Birla, our prestigious institution completes its 75th year as one of the most trusted schools in Kolkata . Since the time of its inception, our founder Late Sarala Birla’s astute faith in child-centric education has helped the school evolve into an institute par excellence.
We became the first school in Kolkata to be certified by the International Organisation for Standardisation, sharing compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.

On the 20th of August,students of Class V of MBSV visited the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM) as part of the National Space Week celebrations. The day began with an engaging tour of the 'Wonders of the Universe' exhibition, where the students were introduced to the fascinating world of galaxies, stars, and other celestial phenomena. The highlight of the visit was the 'Paint Your Planet' workshop. Here, the students were encouraged to let their imaginations soar as they painted planets and other celestial bodies on earthen pots. This hands-on activity not only allowed them to express their creativity but also helped them understand the unique characteristics of different planets in our solar system.
6 students of MBSV had the unique opportunity to explore their critical thinking against 38 pan-Indian schools and prove their prowess in Debate, Creative Writing (Poetry), Tell the Tale and create a verbal archive through Music, introduction of Tussar Silk Saree and a speech on a freedom fighter from the family.
Aishani Chatterjee of Class VII, Shiza Ahmed of Class VIII & Torsha Kundu of Class VIII won Best Coordinated Team in the Tell the Tale & 2nd Runner-up Trophy in Sensorium.
Shiza Ahmed also won the Best Individual Prize by composing a poem in Creative Writing.
Unnati Tiwari of Class XII won the Best Speaker in the semi-final round of the Debate. Both Unnati Tiwari & Unnaty Mundhra also bagged the prize of the Best Debate Team in the same round.
Creative Articulations & Critical Thinking Conclave was hosted by B. K. Birla Public School, Kalyan, Maharashtra from August 29th - August 31st.
Dr Gauri Kumra - a renowned gynaecologist and obstetrician of the city, enumerated Voltaire's philosophy during her interactions with the young adolescents of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar on Doctor’s Day. Throughout her witty session, she enumerated the importance of personal hygiene and awareness of self through a positive attitude. Sex education is the need of the hour, and Dr Kumra busted some myths too!
National Doctor's Day was celebrated in Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar to salute the heroes in white coats. Their dedication and contributions help in saving billions of lives. The students participated in various activities like role play, making first-aid box and card making to show their gratitude towards the medical professionals.
The students at Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar, as an attribute to our Mother Earth celebrated Van Mahotsav uniquely this year. The young nature enthusiasts came together for a tree formation showcasing their creativity and determination to make our planet greener with each passing day. This captivating view was a step towards building harmony with nature. They also planted saplings and decorated flower pots to make this event a success.
On the 5th of July, 2024, students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar, Amrita Sinha Mahapatra and Shiza Ahmed participated in a one-day-long educational excursion to the renowned Hindustan Unilever’s Kidderpore Factory in Kolkata. The visit was organized by STEM Powered, an IIT Kharagpur alumni initiative which aimed to offer students a comprehensive understanding of the tea testing and blending process as a part of the 'STEM on Wheels' programme.
Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar recently organized a vibrant and engaging cartoon colouring activity for the kids to promote creativity and provide a fun break from the usual routine. The little ones were excited to bring their favourite cartoon characters to life with bright and imaginative hues. The activity allowed the kids to express their creativity and helped develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
The senior Commerce students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar were given a unique exposure to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application by attending the 105th Annual General Meeting of Kesoram Industries Limited, at Kalamandir. The AGM presided by Mr. Satish N Jaju offered the students an opportunity to observe the norms and protocols of a corporate meeting, its formalities and the decision-making process.
On July 10, 2024, Mrs. Indrani Majhi, General Manager of Indian Oil, visited Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar to speak with class XII Economics students about careers in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and their importance in India. She shared her journey as a woman in a male-dominated sector and discussed the history and growth of PSUs. Mrs. Majhi highlighted Indian Oil's role during the COVID-19 pandemic and its involvement in key historical events like the Indo-Pak, Indo-Bangladesh, and Indo-China wars.
Oyshiki Ghosh, studying in XI of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar made the school proud by winning several medals at the CISCE Regional Swimming Competition 2024. She has won silver medals in 50 m breaststroke, 100 m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke in the under-19 category for girls. We congratulate her on her achievements.

Students of classes IV-VI of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar attended the closing ceremony of the ' Atma Vikasa ' programme for primary school students at the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark on 13th July. This programme is a thoughtful initiative RMIC took to instil the essence of values in young minds by developing a habit of reading storybooks. Students received mementoes and certificates and were praised for their excellent performance in the earlier quiz programme.

Charity is a supreme virtue and the great channel through which the mercy of God is passed onto mankind. At Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar, the value of the month, " "Respect and care" was given a practical shape as the students participated in Hold a hand charitable programme to respect, care and support the underprivileged of our society. By implementing this charity program, our school aimed to contribute positively to society and instil in the students a sense of empathy, responsibility, and proactive citizenship.
It was a day like no other at Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar as the students prepared props to celebrate World Emoji Day. The classrooms were buzzing with excitement as students made emoji-themed accessories and cutouts. The day was filled with laughter, fun, and a great sense of togetherness as the students learnt about a new way to express emotions.
On Monday, 22nd July, students of MBSV perseverance and success exposed the students to new concepts, research and varied perspectives beyond the traditional curriculum. The piano prodigy, Palak Chauhan stole the hearts of the audience with her mellifluous music and the thought-provoking content of Mohit Raj and Dr. Radhika Batra encouraged the students to think critically and question the existing paradigm.

In an effort to promote environmental well being the students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar had an activity 'Recycling Nature Wastes'. The aim of the activity was to recycle and make the best use of the materials using old newspapers and fallen leaves collected from the school campus. The Nature Knights members had made craft works, wall hangings, accessories, etc.
The young enthusiasts of Nature Knights used their creativity to the fullest and also helped in the cleaning of the gardens.

Our students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar participated in 'Prakritinama', a fest hosted by Sri Sri Academy based on utilising nature's beauty in the best way possible. This made our students use their imagination, ideas and unique elements of creativity to secure various prizes for different events in Prakritinama. Students secure first position in "Chitrakatha"(Hand Painting on the theme of wildlife conservation), second position in "Junk Band"(Rhythmic beats using junk), third position in "Prakriti Paridhan"(Nature-based fashion show) and above all our students made us proud by securing "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅". At Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar's Fruity Fun Day, students had a blast with fruit-themed activities. They tackled fruity puzzles, crafted colourful fruit collages, and made playful fruity stick puppets. By embracing Eco-Printing and Indigenous Dyeing techniques the students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar made quite a statement at Prakriti Paridhan, Couture Carnival at Sri Sri Academy. In an attempt to redefine the fashion industry's standards by integrating sustainable practices, our students created unique vibrant, environmentally friendly textiles. They used natural materials like leaves, branches and flowers to create intricate designs on fabric, eliminating harsh chemicals and promoting a healthier environment.
বাইশে শ্রাবণ বিশ্বকবি কবিগুরু রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের প্রয়াণ দিবস। ১৯৪১ খ্রীষ্টাব্দের এই দিনটিতে ভারতবর্ষ তথা বাংলার প্রতিটি মানুষ ভগ্নহৃদয়ে তাদের প্রাণের ঠাকুরকে শেষ বিদায় জানিয়েছিলেন। মহাদেবী বিড়লা শিশু বিহারের ছাত্রীরা এই দিনটিকে স্মরণ করে কবিগুরুর প্রতি তাদের শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করেছে। একটি ছোট্ট অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে তারা জানিয়েছে গুরুদেবের প্রতি প্রণাম, জানিয়েছে তাদের চিরসখার প্রতি গভীর ভালবাসা।
On August 8 and 9, 2024, Class XII students of MBSV participated in a career campus event held at Ashok Hall Higher secondary school and GD Birla Centre for education. The event featured representatives from several prominent institutions, including AIMS, IFMR Graduate School of Business, Alliance University, Manipal University Techno India and Manav Rachna University. These representatives provided students with detailed insights into their academic programs, highlighting various specializations and career opportunities in fields such as business, management, and technology. The sessions were informative regarding the admission processes.

Students of class VI from Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar visited the Rail Museum at Howrah on the 9th of August, 2024. This educational tour aimed at providing students with practical knowledge about the history of railways in India and insights into the technological advancements in railway transportation. The students were given a guided tour of the museum, where they explored various exhibits, including vintage locomotives and models of trains, and historical documents and in the process developed a keen interest in the progress of the transport system in India.
Flag making serves more than just an art or craft activity. It fosters national pride and patriotism. While making the flag, the students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar learnt to appreciate the values that the Indian flag represents.
It encouraged them to respect and honour their country and its symbols.

Students of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar celebrated this spirit of diversity through a vibrant presentation in the morning assembly. While the tiny tots paraded as past leaders of the nation and melodious tunes of sitar mesmerised the audience, an innovative spectacle of a drone carrying the national flag enthused one and all with excitement.
